About Z Fund Me
Private donations. Public, verifiable totals.
The Project
Z Fund Me is a non-custodial crowdfunding platform built on Zcash. It was created by Tanny Gill as part of the Zcash Hackathon.
The platform demonstrates how privacy-preserving cryptocurrency can enable transparent crowdfunding while protecting donor privacy. Campaign totals are publicly verifiable through cryptographic attestations, while individual donations remain shielded.
⚡What is Zcash?
Zcash is a privacy-focused cryptocurrency that uses advanced cryptography called zero-knowledge proofs to enable fully shielded transactions.
Unlike most cryptocurrencies where every transaction is publicly visible on the blockchain, Zcash allows users to send and receive funds with complete privacy. The sender, receiver, and amount can all be hidden while still being verified by the network.
Why Zcash Matters
- 🔒True Financial Privacy: Your transactions aren't linked to your identity or publicly visible.
- ✅Selective Transparency: Users can share viewing keys to prove transactions when needed while keeping other activity private.
- 🛡️Censorship Resistance: Donations can flow freely without fear of deplatforming or account freezes.
- 🔬Cutting-Edge Cryptography: Zcash pioneered zk-SNARKs, which are now used across the blockchain ecosystem.
Z Fund Me leverages these properties to create a fundraising platform where donors can support causes privately while campaign organizers can still prove their total donations publicly through signed attestations.
